Kang Young-seo who is an alpine skier came to fame after she participated in the Winter Olympics.

Early Life:

Before alpine skiing, she used to play basketball when she was young and changed to alpine skiing after she won the first-ever competition she entered.

Although she was born in Soul, South Korea her hometown is located in Busan, Yeongnam, South Korea.

Career Highlights:

Kang Young-seo has an alpine skier career that began in 2006 and has also competed in slalom and giant slalom.

In 2013 she was the youngest member ever in the alpine skiing national team and she came into the limelight after she participated in the 2014 Winter Olympics which was held in Sochi, Russia, and got 49th position in Women’s Slalom events.

In the 2018 Winter Olympics which was held in Pyeongchang, ‎South Korea she was able to get 47th position in Women’s Giant Slalom, 9th position in the Mixed Team Event, and was not able to finish in Women’s Slalom events.

She again participated in the Women’s Giant Slalom event and Women’s Slalom event in the 2022 Winter Olympics held in Beijing, China but unfortunately was unable to finish both events.

In 2024 she was also a contestant in the Korean show “Physical: 100 – Season 2 Underground” as contestant number 37. Currently, she is also active in alpine skiing.

Personal Life and Relationships:

Kang Young-seo family name is Kang. She uses the Dynastar brand ski and Lange brand boots for skiing.

She graduated High School from Sungil Girls’ High School which is located in Seo-gu, Gwangju, South Jeolla, South Korea.

Kang also graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Korea National Sports University which is located in Yangjae-daero, Songpa-gu, Seoul, South Korea

During Asian Winter Games Day 8 which was held in Sapporo, Japan on February 25, 2017, she won bronze alongside Asa Ando from Japan with silver and Emi Hasegawa from Japan with gold.

During the 2018 Winter Olympics held in Pyeongchang, ‎South Korea Jung Dong-hyun, Kim Dong-woo, and Gim So-hui were her teammates.
