Who Is Aneet Kaur Padda?

Aneet Kaur Padda is an Indian actress and model who works in Hindi films and series. She was born on October 13, 2002, in Amritsar, Punjab. Today, she celebrates her birthday as one of the most acclaimed young talents in Indian cinema.

Her rise has been extraordinary. She went from a brief debut in 2022 to starring in one of 2025’s biggest Bollywood blockbusters. Furthermore, she has won multiple awards, graced the covers of Vogue India, Forbes, Grazia, and Femina, and is now a face of some of India’s most prestigious brands.

She began her career with a brief role in the drama Salaam Venky (2022) and had her first lead role in the Amazon Prime Video series Big Girls Don’t Cry (2024). Her lead role in Mohit Suri’s romantic drama Saiyaara (2025) then changed everything.

Early Life: From Amritsar to New Delhi

Birth and Cultural Roots

Aneet Kaur Padda was born on 13 October 2002 in Amritsar, Punjab, India. She is a proud Sikh and carries the deep cultural heritage of Punjab into everything she does — her name, her values, and her natural warmth on screen.

Amritsar, the spiritual heart of Sikhism and home to the Golden Temple, gave Aneet her roots. However, her journey soon took her to New Delhi, where she would build the foundation for her future career.

Schooling in Delhi

Aneet completed her schooling at Spring Dale Senior School in Amritsar. She is known among her school peers for her early involvement in theatre. As a child, Padda featured in a play that kindled her interest in acting, having not previously been particularly interested in cinema.

That single school play redirected her entire future. It was not a plan. It was an accident of discovery.

Degree in Political Science at Jesus and Mary College

After school, Aneet moved to New Delhi for higher education. She earned a degree in Political Science with a minor in English from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University — one of India’s most prestigious women’s colleges, affiliated with the University of Delhi.

Padda began her acting career with a brief role in the Hindi film Salaam Venky even while she was finishing her studies. During this time, she was also working part-time as a model in commercials for brands such as Nescafé, Cadbury, and Paytm — building her screen presence one frame at a time.

Padda has since credited Mehra for her support when she moved from Delhi to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting. It was a bold move. Delhi to Mumbai. Student to actress. She made it work.

Career Journey: A Step-by-Step Rise to Stardom

The Debut: Salaam Venky (2022)

Aneet made her on-screen debut with a brief role as Nandini in the drama Salaam Venky, released on December 9, 2022. The film, directed by Revathy and starring Kajol, gave Aneet her first taste of the professional film world.

It was a small role. However, it was the first step.

First Lead Role: Big Girls Don’t Cry (Amazon Prime Video, 2024)

In 2024, Padda had her first lead role in Nitya Mehra’s Amazon Prime Video series Big Girls Don’t Cry, a coming-of-age drama centred around a friend group who attend a boarding school.

She played Roohi Ahuja across 7 episodes. Beyond acting, she also showed her musical side. Padda wrote, composed and sang an original track for the series, titled “Masoom.”

The series earned strong reviews. Despite disliking the series, a critic for The New Indian Express found Padda and her co-star Afrah Sayed to be the highlights among the ensemble.

Additionally, the show earned her a Filmfare OTT Awards nomination in 2024 for Best Original Soundtrack in a Series — shared with composers including Amit Trivedi and Shashwat Sachdev.

The Breakthrough: Saiyaara (2025)

Then came Saiyaara — and everything changed.

Saiyaara is a 2025 Indian Hindi-language musical romantic drama film directed by Mohit Suri. It stars debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in the lead roles of a singer-songwriter duo who fall in love.

Aneet played Vaani Batra — a gifted and principled songwriter diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. The role demanded emotional depth, vulnerability, and precision. She delivered all three.

Saiyaara was released theatrically on 18 July 2025 to positive reviews from critics, with particular praise for Panday and Padda’s performances.

The numbers told their own story. Saiyaara, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, grossed over ₹570 crore ($64.6 million) worldwide by August 30, cementing its place as the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025.

The film achieved one of the biggest opening day performances recorded by a debutant-led project in Indian cinema history, marking the most significant ticket sales for a debut film since 2000’s Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, which launched Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel.

Furthermore, Saiyaara transformed its lead actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda into overnight sensations and Gen Z darlings across India.

Hunkkaar: The Roar (2026)

Aneet has since earned praise for her performance as a sexual assault survivor in the drama Hunkkaar: The Roar (2026), which centres on a young girl who accuses a powerful godman (played by Raghubir Yadav) of sexual assault.

She was credited as Aneet Kaur Padda for the role of Meenu Rawat. The performance demonstrated her range — moving from romantic drama to intense social commentary without missing a step.

Upcoming Projects: Nyaya and Shakti Shalini (2027)

Padda will reunite with Nitya Mehra for her courtroom drama Nyaya starring Fatima Sana Shaikh, and star as the title character in Shakti Shalini, as part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. google

Shakti Shalini is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and is currently in post-production. It is scheduled for theatrical release on December 24, 2027. Aneet underwent extensive physical training for the title role.
