Who Is Iris Marion Biegel?
Chef Katie Lee and her husband, Ryan Biegel, welcomed their daughter, Iris Marion Biegel, in September 2020.
She is a celebrity kid. She is the only child of two well-known names in the American entertainment and culinary world. And she already has the internet completely smitten.
Food Network star Katie Lee revealed on Instagram that she had given birth to a girl. “Welcome, baby Iris Marion Biegel 9.2.20. Our hearts are so full,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself holding Iris in a blanket.
Since then, Iris has charmed her parents’ fans with her beach walks, kitchen adventures, and — most delightfully — her very mature music tastes. She is five years old in 2025. However, she is already one of the most talked-about celebrity kids in America.
Early Life: Birth, Name, and a Clever Inspiration
The Story Behind Her Name
Katie chose Iris’ first name, while Ryan contributed her middle name — Marion — as an homage to Marion Ravenwood, Indiana Jones’ strong love interest in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
It is a name full of warmth. It is also a name full of character. Therefore, it suits her perfectly.
Birth and Nationality
Katie and Ryan welcomed their daughter, Iris Marion Biegel, in September 2020. She was born in the United States of America. She holds American nationality. Furthermore, she is of mixed ethnicity, reflecting her parents’ diverse backgrounds.
Based on her birth date of September 2, 2020, her zodiac sign is Virgo — known for being thoughtful, observant, and detail-oriented.
Growing Up Between Two Homes
Iris Marion Biegel, born in September 2020, is now a happy and energetic five-year-old.
Katie and her family primarily split their time between two main residences. Their home in the Hamptons, New York, is heavily featured on her social media and is the backdrop for much of her recipe development. They also spend significant time at their home in Florida during the colder months.
Iris therefore grows up between coastal New York and sunny Florida. It is a childhood filled with beaches, gardens, and the smell of something always cooking on the stove.
A Jimmy Buffett Fan at Age Five
Even at five years old, Iris has strong opinions — especially about music.
Ryan revealed on Katie’s podcast that their daughter is obsessed with Jimmy Buffett, Benson Boone, and Burt Reynolds. The couple even celebrated her 5th birthday on September 3, 2025, with a Jimmy Buffett-themed party. “A Pirate Looks at 5,” Katie captioned the post.
Moreover, Ryan grew a mustache — and admitted it was for Iris. “Our daughter is obsessed with Jimmy Buffett, Benson Boone, and Burt Reynolds. So, what do they have in common? Mustache!” he joked on the podcast.
Family: The Biegels at a Glance
Maternal Side
Katie and Ryan got married in Italy in 2018 after falling in love while working on the show Beach Bites with Katie Lee.
Iris’s maternal grandmother is Kim Becker and her maternal grandfather is Steve Lee. They are both based in the United States. Katie has often spoken warmly about her West Virginia roots and the role her grandparents played in shaping her love of cooking. That same love now fills the home where Iris is growing up.
Paternal Side
Iris’s paternal grandfather is Pete Biegel and her paternal grandmother is Alice Biegel. Her father, Ryan Biegel, was born in Florida and built a successful career in television production. He brings the same storytelling instinct to family life that he brings to the screen.
Sibling Status
Iris Marion is currently the only child of Katie Lee and Ryan Biegel. She has no siblings. However, she is surrounded by a wide and loving circle of family and friends from within the entertainment industry.
Education: Too Young, But Growing Fast
She is therefore at the very beginning of her educational journey. There is no publicly available information about her schooling at this time. Her parents have kept that aspect of her life appropriately private.
What is clear, however, is that she is learning the most important lessons early — in the kitchen alongside her mother, on the beach in the Hamptons, and at the dining table where her family gathers every evening.
A Mother’s Love: Katie’s Journey to Iris
Iris’s arrival was not easy. It was hard-won. It was deeply cherished.
Katie opened up on Instagram in April 2019 about struggling to conceive. “We were trying, I had to have surgery to correct a problem, got an infection, then I was so run down I got shingles,” she wrote. “My doctor advised us to try IVF. We just finished the intense process only to get zero healthy embryos.”
Previously, the 38-year-old admitted she thought it would be easy to start a family. “I’m a healthy woman, I eat a balanced diet, exercise, I don’t smoke. Ryan is the same. But reproductive health is an entirely different ballgame,” she shared in a deeply personal post.
In February 2020, the West Virginia native shared with her co-hosts on The Kitchen that she was expecting her first child.
When Iris finally arrived, the joy was immeasurable.
“I love being this baby’s mom more than anything in the world. I mean, she’s just so sweet and cuddly. She’s very well fed, if you can’t tell,” Katie said, laughing, during a TODAY appearance.
Since Iris came into her life, Katie has shared the cutest photos with her daughter on social media. The pair enjoy taking walks on the beach and hanging out together in the kitchen.
