Who Is Alicia Aylies?

Alicia Aylies was born on April 21, 1998, in Fort-de-France, Martinique, to parents Philippe Aylies and Marie-Chantal Belfroy. She is a French singer, model, and beauty pageant titleholder. She holds the distinction of being the first representative from French Guiana to win the Miss France crown.

She won Miss French Guiana 2016 and Miss France 2017. She later represented France at Miss Universe 2017. Since 2021, she has built a music career, releasing singles under the label Scorpio Music and the production of Jahyanai King.

Early Life and Education

Alicia grew up in Remire-Montjoly, French Guiana, and completed her secondary education at the local lycée, earning a science diploma in 2016. She studied at the University of French Guiana. At the time of her Miss France election, she was in her first year of a law degree at the university in Cayenne.

She is an only child. Her parents are Martiniquais in origin. She has cited Michelle Obama as a personal inspiration.

Pageant Career

Miss French Guiana 2016

Alicia won Miss French Guiana 2016. Her hometown is listed as Matoury. She stood 1.77 m (5 ft 9½ in) tall at the time of competition.

Miss France 2017

Miss France 2017 was the 87th edition of the competition. The winner was Miss French Guiana, Alicia Aylies, who gave her region its first-ever Miss France title. The pageant was held on December 17, 2016, at the Arena in Montpellier. She was 18 years old at the time.

The runner-up was Miss Tahiti. Miss Languedoc-Roussillon placed third.

After her election, Alicia told Europe 1: “Les gens avaient peut-être besoin de voir une Miss France de couleur” — “People perhaps needed to see a Miss France of color.”

Miss Universe 2017

She represented France at Miss Universe 2017 and was among the favourites but was unplaced. The pageant was held on November 26, 2017, at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned Miss Universe 2017. Alicia said she was “disappointed” not to follow in the footsteps of her predecessor, Iris Mittenaere, who had won Miss Universe 2016.

Modeling Career

After her reign as Miss France ended in December 2017, Alicia established herself as a full-time model and influencer based in Paris. She collaborated with brands including L’Oréal, Etam, and Calvin Klein. By the time she launched her music career, she led a community of 450,000 followers. Music Career

Debut: “Mojo” (December 2021)

Aylies released her debut single “Mojo” with Scorpio Music in December 2021. The clip featured fellow former Miss France titleholders Camille Cerf, Clémence Botino, and first runner-up Ophély Mézino.

“Mojo” carried Caribbean sonorities and an afro-pop feel. Alicia described the song’s concept: “Mon premier single s’appelle Mojo. Le Mojo dans ce son-là, c’est la magie. C’est l’histoire d’une femme indépendante et un jeune homme lui fait la cour.” — “My first single is called Mojo. The Mojo in this track is magic. It’s the story of an independent woman being courted by a young man.” The video reached over 300,000 views on YouTube.

She signed with Rude Empire Music Group, owned by Guianese artist Jahyanai King, before moving to Scorpio Music for the official release.

“Abuser” (2022)

Her second single, “Abuser,” produced by Jahyanai King, was released in mid-July 2022. The track addresses male violence against women, sung in both French and English over an afro-pop instrumental. Alicia has been engaged in the fight for gender equality throughout her career.

“No Wahala” (2024)

After a maternity pause, Alicia released her third single, “No Wahala,” which could be translated as “No Fear” or “No Problem.” The release signaled the forthcoming arrival of a debut album.

Personal Life

Daughter Tamalia

In December 2022, she announced her first pregnancy on Instagram. On April 23, 2023, she gave birth in Cayenne to a daughter named Tamalia.

On May 4, 2024, she confirmed her separation from Tamalia’s father, whose identity has not been made public.
