Who Is Tommy Fury?

Tommy Fury is a British professional boxer and television personality. He was born Thomas Michael John Fury on May 7, 1999, in Manchester, England. He is the younger half-brother of former unified world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and the son of former professional boxer John Fury.

He first entered the public eye on the fifth series of ITV2’s Love Island in 2019. He finished as runner-up alongside Molly-Mae Hague, who would go on to become one of Britain’s biggest social media influencers. That appearance made Tommy Fury a household name overnight.

Since then, however, he has worked hard to make the boxing ring his primary stage. As of October 2026, he holds a professional record of 11 wins and 0 losses, with 12 wins across his overall streak. He remains undefeated. Furthermore, his estimated net worth ranges between £4 million and £10 million, depending on the source.

Early Life: Born Into a Boxing Dynasty

Manchester Roots and a Fighting Family

Tommy Fury was born on May 7, 1999, in Manchester, England. He grew up in one of Britain’s most famous boxing families, surrounded by the sport from his very first memories.

His father, John Fury, is a former professional boxer and bare-knuckle fighter with a career record of 8 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw. His half-brother, Tyson Fury, became one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. Tommy also counts heavyweight boxer Hughie Fury as his cousin. In the Fury household, combat sport was not just a profession. It was a way of life.

His mother’s name is Chantal Fury. Tommy is one of five children in the family.

School and Early Boxing Training

Tommy completed his school education at Ambrose Barlow High School in Manchester. From a young age, he trained in boxing under his father’s guidance. John Fury’s influence on Tommy’s technique, mindset, and ring discipline was fundamental. It shaped him into the fighter he would eventually become.

Professional Boxing Career: Building an Undefeated Record

Professional Debut (December 2018)

Tommy Fury made his professional boxing debut on December 22, 2018, at the Manchester Arena. He defeated Jevgenijs Andrejevs, who carried a record of 10 wins, 102 losses, and 3 draws, via a four-round points decision with a score of 40–36. It was a controlled, composed debut. He was just 19 years old.

Love Island Interruption (2019)

In 2019, Tommy paused his boxing career to appear on Love Island. It was a bold decision. However, it paid off enormously — not just romantically, but commercially. He returned to the ring after the show with a much larger public profile and a fresh wave of fans who had never previously followed boxing.

Rebuilding Momentum (2019–2022)

Tommy returned to the ring on December 21, 2019, defeating Przemyslaw Binienda via TKO in the first round. He continued to build his record steadily through 2020 and 2021. His wins during this period included:

  • Genadij Krajevskij — TKO, Round 2 (November 13, 2020)
  • Scott Williams — TKO, Round 2 (February 27, 2021)
  • Jordan Grant — Points decision, 40–36 (June 5, 2021)
  • Anthony Taylor — Unanimous decision, 40–36 (August 29, 2021)

On November 13, 2022, Fury faced Paul Bamba on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Deji. The contest was recorded as a draw, which remains the only blemish on his otherwise spotless professional record.

The Jake Paul Fight: The Biggest Night of His Career (February 2023)

The fight that changed everything came on February 26, 2023, at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia. Tommy Fury faced American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in an eight-round cruiserweight contest billed as The Truth.

Tommy Fury handed Jake Paul his first career loss while keeping his own undefeated record intact at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia.

Fury won the eight-round fight by split decision, with one judge scoring the fight for Paul 75–74 and the other two for Fury, both by a score of 76–73.

As well as claiming the newly-made WBC Diriyah Belt with victory over the YouTuber-turned-boxer, Fury would earn a place in the WBC cruiserweight rankings.

Speaking ringside after the win, Fury dedicated the victory to his partner Molly-Mae Hague and their newborn daughter Bambi. The win was watched by millions worldwide and gave Tommy Fury a global platform beyond anything Love Island had provided.

Defeating KSI (October 2023)

On October 14, 2023, Tommy Fury returned to Manchester Arena to face British YouTuber and boxer KSI in the main event of MF & DAZN: X Series 10, known as The Prime Card.

In a closely contested affair, Fury defeated KSI after six rounds via unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the bout 57–56 in Fury’s favour.

The win further solidified Fury’s status as a legitimate professional boxer capable of winning high-profile fights. He called out KSI’s stablemate Jake Paul for a rematch after the victory.

Cancelled Fight With Darren Till (Late 2024)

On November 17, 2024, Misfits Boxing announced that Fury would face English mixed martial artist Darren Till at Co-op Live in Manchester on January 18, 2025. However, on December 6, 2024, Fury announced via Instagram that he was withdrawing from the fight. He cited Till’s comments about using MMA tactics if he was losing as the reason for his withdrawal.

The decision drew significant criticism. Jake Paul publicly mocked Fury on social media following the withdrawal, calling him an “absolute muppet” and referencing his third career pullout.

Return to the Ring (May 2025)

After over 18 months of inactivity, Tommy Fury announced his ring return on April 14, 2025, via Twitter. He faced Bosnian boxer Kenan Hanjalic, who carried a record of 5 wins and 1 loss, on May 9, 2025, at the MTK Arena. Fury won convincingly by unanimous decision over six rounds.

Exhibition Bout Against Eddie Hall (June 2026)

On June 13, 2026, Fury stepped into the ring for an exhibition bout against former World’s Strongest Man competitor Eddie Hall. The bout was held over six two-minute rounds, with Fury weighing in at 217.5 lbs. Fury won via majority decision, extending his overall winning streak to 12.

Love Island: The Show That Made Him Famous

Series 5 (Summer 2019)

In June 2019, Tommy Fury entered the ITV2 reality series Love Island as a contestant. He was just 20 years old. He took time off from his boxing career in 2019 to star in the fifth series of the ITV2 dating reality television show Love Island.

Along with his current partner Molly-Mae Hague, he finished as a runner-up of the series.

The show gave Tommy Fury a mainstream television audience that his boxing career alone could never have reached. Brands, sponsors, and media outlets came calling almost immediately. Love Island exposure significantly expanded his audience beyond boxing fans, creating commercial opportunities and mainstream media coverage that permanently elevated his public profile.

Personal Life: Molly-Mae, Bambi, and Life Off Camera

Meeting Molly-Mae Hague

Rumours of infidelity circulated widely following the split. Molly-Mae later addressed the situation in a British Vogue interview, saying that “no one will ever really know what went down apart from Tommy and I, and that’s how we’d like to keep it, for Bambi’s sake.” Her documentary Molly-Mae: Behind It All, released on Amazon Prime Video in January 2025, addressed the split in emotional detail.

For his part, Tommy later publicly acknowledged that 2024 was the worst year of his life. Fury said he had experienced the “worst year” of his life after his break-up with Molly-Mae Hague. He also revealed that he had undergone reconstructive surgery on one of his hands, and that his recovery during the breakup took him to a “dark place.” He attributed part of his struggles to a “problem with alcohol.”

Rekindled Romance (2025)

By May 2025, the couple appeared to have reconciled. Molly-Mae Hague confirmed she and Tommy Fury were back together nine months after announcing their split. On his 26th birthday on Good Morning Britain, Tommy declared: “2024 was the worst year of my life, and this year is going to be the best year of my life.”
