Who Is Kendra Duggar?

Kendra Renée Duggar, born Kendra Renée Caldwell on August 11, 1998, in Fairfax, Virginia, is an American television personality. She rose to public attention through her appearances on TLC’s Counting On and her marriage to Joseph Duggar in September 2017.

She is the eldest of nine children born to Paul and Christina Caldwell. Her father, Paul Caldwell, is a Baptist pastor. She and Joseph share four children: Garrett David, Addison Renée, Brooklyn Praise, and Justus.

In March 2026, Kendra was arrested by Tontitown police in Arkansas on four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment. A family spokesperson confirmed those charges are separate from the Florida charges her husband faces.

Early Life: Fairfax, Virginia to Fayetteville, Arkansas

Kendra Renée Caldwell was born on August 11, 1998, in Fairfax, Virginia. As a young child, she lived in Woodbridge, Virginia, where her father pastored Heritage Baptist Church. The family later moved to the Fayetteville, Arkansas area, where Paul Caldwell served as pastor at Lighthouse Baptist Church — the same congregation the Duggar family attended.

She is the oldest of nine children. Her siblings are Lauren, Micah, Nathan, Timothy, Olivia, Jesiah, and Isaiah Caldwell.

According to the Duggar family website, Kendra “always finds time to be active outdoors, join a game of volleyball, or sit down to play the piano,” and even helps her husband with work projects.

Education and Upbringing

Kendra was raised in a conservative Christian household shaped by her father’s pastoral work. Her upbringing emphasized faith, family, and service — values she carried into her marriage to Joseph Duggar and her appearances on Counting On.

Meeting Joseph Duggar: Church, Courtship, and a Wedding Proposal

Kendra and Joseph Duggar met through their shared church community in Arkansas as teenagers. During the Season 6 premiere of TLC’s Counting On, Duggar made things official by asking Kendra to start a courtship, and she said yes.

An October 2017 Counting On episode showed Joseph asking Kendra’s father, Pastor Paul Caldwell, for his permission to propose.

Joseph ultimately proposed to Kendra during his sister Joy-Anna Duggar and her husband Austin Forsyth’s wedding reception in May 2017.

Marriage: September 8, 2017

Duggar and Kendra got engaged in May 2017 and tied the knot just a few months later on September 8. He was 23, and Kendra was 19 when they got married.

Their wedding was held at First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and was televised. The wedding used navy and blush for its color theme, with Joseph’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, in attendance. Joseph’s sisters Jana, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joy-Anna, Johannah, and Jennifer reportedly all served as bridesmaids. The ceremony was officiated by Kendra’s father, Paul Caldwell.

Television Career: Counting On

Kendra’s public profile grew through TLC’s Counting On, the spinoff series that followed after TLC cancelled 19 Kids and Counting in 2015. The show documented her courtship with Joseph, their engagement, their wedding, and the births of their children.

While TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting wrapped in 2015, Kendra and her family gained the spotlight in its spinoff, Counting On (2015–2020), which also featured their engagement and wedding nuptials.

Children: Garrett, Addison, Brooklyn, and Justus

Joseph and Kendra have four children.

Garrett David Duggar was born on June 8, 2018. According to the Duggar family website, Garrett is a “deep thinker” with a “serious personality” who enjoys playing with trucks and cards.

Addison Renée Duggar was born on November 2, 2019. “Bundle of joy” Addison is quick with a smile and a laugh, per the family website.

Brooklyn Praise Duggar was born on February 19, 2021. She is the couple’s third child and second daughter.

Justus Duggar was born in 2022. His name was uncovered in a June 2023 obituary for Kendra’s grandmother, Peggy Ann Caldwell, which said she left behind “her great-grandchildren Garrett, Addison, Brooklyn and Justus.”

March 2026: Arrests and Legal Proceedings

Joseph Duggar was arrested by Tontitown police in Arkansas on March 18, 2026, amid allegations that the 19 Kids and Counting alum allegedly sexually abused a 9-year-old girl during a family trip to Florida in 2020.

On March 20, 2026, Kendra was booked into the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She and Joseph were charged with four counts each of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree false imprisonment.

A spokesperson for the family told the outlet that the charges filed against Kendra are “totally unrelated” to the charges Joseph is facing. “She’s not suspected or accused of participating in his alleged crime,” the spokesperson said.

Kendra was released on bail, while Joseph remains in custody and is awaiting extradition to Florida.
