Akbar Gbaja-Biamila is an American former professional football player in the National Football League(NFL) and currently, he serves as a commentator on the American Ninja Warrior television series.

Early Life:

Akbar Gbaja-Biamila born name is Akbar Oluwakemi-Idowu Gbajabiamila ethnicity is Nigerian and Yoruba. He was raised in a Sunni Muslim household, and later on, he turned into a Christian in college.

Career Highlights:

Akbar Gbaja-Biamila debuted his career after he signed with the Oakland Raiders as a free agent, he went undrafted in the 2003 NFL draft. Likewise, Akbar’s released by the Raiders due to his injuries in 2005. After his release, Akbar trained with the Green Bay Packers, but they did not sign him, and spent the season out of football.

On January 12, 2006, Gbajabiamila returned to football after being signed by the San Diego Chargers.  Likewise, on February 6, 2007, he signed a contract worth $7.4 million with the Miami Dolphins. Again, he spent the season out of football after being released by the Dolphins on September 11, 2007. Akbar returned to the Raiders in 2008. Sadly, he was released before the start of the season.

In 2012, Akbar joined the NFL Network as a host of the NFL Fantasy Live cast. Similarly, he became a co-host alongside Matt Iseman for American Ninja Warrior in 2013. In addition, he is still hosting the American Ninja Warrior.

Also, Akbar joined CBS’ The Talk as a new permanent co-host for Season 12 of the daytime talk show that premiered Monday, September 13, 2021.

Personal Life and Relationships:

Akbar Gbaja-Biamila is the son of Mustapha Gbaja-Biamila and Bolatito Gbaja-Biamila. He has six siblings. In addition, he is the brother of a professional American football player Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila. He also has twin sisters and another brother, Abdul Gbaja-Biamila. Moreover, his father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and his mother died in a car accident in 2002.

In his junior year, Akbar attended Crenshaw High School in South Los Angeles. He received scholarship offers from many renowned universities in his senior year. But he went to attend the same school that his older brother attended San Diego State University.

Likewise, he graduated with a degree in communication and new media studies. In addition, he completed a certified entrepreneurship program in 2005 from the Wharton School of Business.

Akbar Gbaja-Biamila is married to Chrystal Gbaja-Biamila in a secret memory. They met at the Oakland Raiders game in 2004. Furthermore, the couple has four children, Elijah, Saheedat. Nasi and Naomi Biamila are the twin daughters.
