Who Is Addison Timlin?
Addison Timlin is an accomplished American actress whose career spans Broadway stages, Hollywood films, and prestige television. She was born on June 29, 1991, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her full name is Addison Jayne Timlin.
She began performing as a child. By age nine, she was playing Annie on a national tour. By twelve, she was on Broadway.
Timlin made her Broadway debut as Baby Louise in the 2003 revival of Gypsy, led by Bernadette Peters. From there, she built a career that took her from the stage to screen roles in acclaimed films and TV series. These include Derailed (2005), Showtime’s Californication, The Town That Dreaded Sundown (2014), and Little Sister (2016).
In 2025, she stepped into the role of executive producer while continuing to act, co-producing the critically acclaimed Sundance series Hal & Harper. Addison Timlin is, without question, one of the most versatile and quietly accomplished performers of her generation.
Early Life: A Performer From the Start
Growing Up in Pennsylvania
Addison Timlin grew up in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and began performing early. The performing arts were not simply a hobby for young Addison. They were a calling.
She was born to R.J. Timlin and Jayne Timlin, and raised alongside her brother Jared and three sisters, including Breana. Her family supported her ambitions from the very beginning.
Eight Years Old and Auditioning in New York City
At age eight, she persuaded her parents to take her to New York City to audition for Annie, winning a supporting role and eventually appearing in numerous professional productions of the musical.
She did not stop at one orphan. She performed every orphan role before taking over the role of Annie when she was nine years old. Her love of stage continued to several productions of Annie, including Papermill Playhouse and the Theater of the Stars Tour alongside John Schuck.
Moving to Manhattan for Broadway
After signing with an agent and joining the Broadway revival of Gypsy at the age of 12, her mother relocated the family to Manhattan so Timlin could continue her career in acting.
It was a bold move. However, it paid off immediately. She debuted on Broadway in 2003 as Baby Louise in Gypsy alongside Bernadette Peters.
Playing Baby Louise in one of the most celebrated Broadway revivals of the 2000s, at just twelve years old, set the tone for everything that followed.
Education: Professional Performing Arts School
Timlin attended the Professional Performing Arts School, juggling classes with auditions and acting training. This New York City school, known for producing some of the industry’s most dedicated young performers, gave her the formal foundation to match her natural talent.
Career Highlights: From Derailed to Hal & Harper
Hollywood Debut: Derailed (2005)
Her screen debut came in 2005 with the short film The Isabel Fish, followed by her Hollywood breakthrough in Derailed (2005), in which she played Amy.
Derailed starred Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston. It was a significant first role for a teenager leaping stage to screen. She held her own alongside established Hollywood stars — and the industry noticed.
Television: Law & Order, Cashmere Mafia, and Beyond (2006–2008)
Timlin built her television resume quickly. She appeared in Law & Order (NBC), 3 Lbs. (CBS), Californication (Showtime), and Cashmere Mafia (ABC).
Each role demonstrated her range. She was equally comfortable in legal dramas, medical series, and cable comedies.
Californication: Playing Sasha Bingham (2008–2014)
One of the most significant early chapters of her career was her recurring role as Sasha Bingham in Showtime’s Californication. The show starred David Duchovny and ran for seven seasons. Timlin appeared across multiple seasons, earning recognition from both critics and audiences.
Her performance as the complex, emotionally layered Sasha Bingham demonstrated the depth she could bring to morally nuanced characters — a skill that would define her career.
The Town That Dreaded Sundown (2014): A Defining Role

Odd Thomas (2013) and Stand Up Guys (2012)
During this same period, Timlin appeared in a series of notable films. She played a lead role in Odd Thomas (2013), a supernatural thriller based on Dean Koontz’s novel. She also appeared in Stand Up Guys (2012), alongside Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, and Alan Arkin — yet another example of her ability to hold ground beside Hollywood legends.
Little Sister (2016) and Further Film Work
She is also known for her role as Colleen Lunsford in Little Sister (2016). The film earned critical praise on the festival circuit and showcased Timlin’s ability to carry quiet, introspective drama with emotional precision.
She continued to build her independent film credentials. Projects like Submission (2017), with Stanley Tucci, Like Me (2017), Life Like (2019), and Feast of the Seven Fishes (2019) further cemented her reputation as a reliable, intelligent performer.
Fallen (2016) and Girl in the Box (2016)
In 2016, Timlin was cast as Lucinda “Luce” Price in Fallen, a supernatural romance film based on Lauren Kate’s bestselling novel. The same year, she played Colleen Stan in the TV movie Girl in the Box, a dramatization of a real-life kidnapping case that required extraordinary emotional commitment.
