Mavado is a Jamaican singer and songwriter. He signed with the ‘We the Best Music Group’ and ‘Cash Money Records.’

He is a famous Jamaican dancehall singer. Mavado is also known as the Gully God among his fans.

David Constantine Brooks was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on November 30, 1980. His mother, Elizabeth, raised him in Kingston. There is no information regarding his father; he has one younger brother, Joey Brooks.

After much success and hate, Mavado starred in a music video as a gangster in Drake’s song ‘Find Your Love’ in 2010. In 2011, he formed his label and released a single, ‘Delilah.’ Then he signed a contract with DJ Khaled’s record label We The Best Music and released three singles.

In 2012, he appeared in the movie sequel ‘Shottas 2’; in 2018, he released a song,  I’m Sanctified, collaborating with Sean Paul. He also released a diss song called “Enemy Line” against Drake in 2020.

The singer keeps getting into huge controversies frequently. In 2007, he was arrested by the Jamaican police for possessing firearms and attacking cops. After getting arrested, he tried to flee through a glass window, and his three fingers were sliced off.

Again, he was criticized for his anti-gay lyrics in his song “Batty Bwoy Termination” and for promoting gun violence. In May 2012, he was again arrested for assaulting and destroying property. He was fined $100,00k, and the appeal for his sentence was canceled.
