Early Life:
Mavado born name is David Constantine Brooks and he is a famous Jamaican dancehall singer. Mavado is also known as the Gully God among his fans.
He spent his childhood with her grandmom and went to church with her. he used to sing, which significantly improved his singing.
Career Highlights:
Mavado began his career as a singer in the year 2005. He launched his first single, ‘Real McKoy, which gained immense popularity. He released ‘Weh Dem a Do’ in 2006, which also succeeded.
On July 10, 2007, he released his first album ‘ Gansta For Life: The Symphony of David Brooks. His album ‘Dying’ single was featured on New York’s WQHT.
After much success and hate, Mavado starred in a music video as a gangster in Drake’s song ‘Find Your Love’ in 2010. In 2011, he formed his label and released a single ‘Delilah.’ Then he signed a contract with DJ Khaled’s record label We The Best Music and released three singles.
In 2012, he appeared in the movie sequel ‘Shottas 2’; in 2018, he released a song, I’m Sanctify, collaborating with Sean Paul. He also released a diss song called “Enemy Line” against Drake in 2020.
He won the Theft Award for his song Real McKoy and the UK Mobo Award.
The singer keeps getting into huge controversies frequently. In 2007, he was arrested by the Jamaican police for possessing firearms and attacking cops. After getting arrested, he tried to flee through a glass window, and his three fingers were sliced off.
Again he was criticized for his anti-gay lyrics in his song “Batty Bwoy Termination” and for promoting gun violence. In May 2012, he was again arrested for assaulting and destroying property. He was fined $100,00k, and the appeal for his sentence was canceled.
Personal Life and Relationships:
Mavado’s mother is Elizabeth and he has one younger brother named Joey Brooks.
He went to Runyaro Primary School for primary education. Later, he enrolled in Los Angeles High School for further instruction.
Mavado is spending a happy married life with Monique McKenzie. He shared the vows with McKenzie in 2012 secretly.
The wedding was held in the USA, unknown to his fans. The couple has been blessed with two children, Vutton and Daisy.
He also has three children, Danielle, Dante, and Gavyn, from his two previous partners and has kept the information secret.
