John Leone is an American movie writer, director, and author who is also a member of the Writers Guild the Directors Guild, and Musicians Local 47 in LA.

Early Life:

John Leone’s full name is John Joseph Leone and he holds American, Irish, and Italian citizenship.

Career Highlights:

John Leone worked as a studio musician and producer at Clover Recorders in partnership with Charles Plotkin. Before that, he worked as a Stegner Fellow in Creative Writing at Stanford, and then Directing Fellow at the American Film Institute. From 1972 to 1982, he worked with brother Michael Leone in a family-owned company that owned recording studios, and produced, financed, and distributed 28 films in ten years.

They also produced the first anti-Vietnam War film, “Go Tell The Spartans”. In 1976, he also directed the first film “Last of the Cowboys”. He wrote a script for Intermedia and Oliver Stone from his novel Jihad in 2004. In 2010, he published “The Crowd Dreams of Love”. His other novels are Imaginary Numbers, World of Souls, and The Theatricals

In 1970, John won the Book-of-the-Month Club Award as the best first novelist in America through a national competition.

Personal Life and Relationships:

John Leone is the son of Michale F. Leone and Elizabeth Rose Kemper Leone. His father is a federal judge whereas his mother is a nurse and homemaker. He has five siblings.

Talking about his academic background, he went to Southern California Public Schools. Later, he enrolled at Phillips Academy in Andover.

John then studied at Harvard. He also studied prosody and versification with the Greek scholar and translator, Robert Fitzgerald.
