Lightly recruited by major college basketball programs despite a standout career at Charlotte Christian School, Curry enrolled at tiny Davidson College near his hometown.
Although Curry wanted to play for his father’s alma mater, Virginia Tech, the Hokies offered only a walk-on spot, and Curry declined.
Instead, he chose Davidson — a small, academically elite liberal arts college that had not won an NCAA tournament game in nearly four decades. It turned out to be the perfect stage.
