Early Life:
Gus Birney’s born name is Augusta Birney and her full name is Augusta Marsh Birney. When she was 14 years old she did her first job in a Clean and Clear campaign.
Career Highlights:
Gus Birney debuted her career when she walked for Kanye West and Vivianne Hu after she joined Click Models and began modeling. After that, in 2016 she debuted in The Rose Tattoo at the Williamstown Theatre Festival which was produced by Eugene O’Neill.
In 2018 she debuted in the movie “Here and Now” which was a romantic comedy starring Sarah Jessica Parker.
In 2017 she was cast in the science fiction-horror series “The Mist” when she was 16 years old and in 2019 she was in “Jessica Jones” a Netflix superhero series, the same year she was also cast in “Insatiable” which was a Netflix comedy series
After that, she acted in 2020 on the psychological drama “I’m Thinking of Ending Things” by Charlie Kaufman on Netflix, and in 2021 coming-of-age teen comedy “Plan B” on Hulu.
From 2019 to 2020 she was also cast in the American comedy-drama television series “Dickinson” starring Hailee Steinfeld on Apple TV+. She was also in “Darcy” which is an independent film.
She was also in another Apple TV+ American satirical comedy horror series “Shining Vale” from 2022 to 2023 and she was even nominated for “Best Young Actor in a Television Series” by Saturn Award.
In 2023 she also acted in an off-Broadway and the Brooklyn Academy of Music theater from February to March called “The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window” alongside Oscar Isaac and Rachel Brosnahan which was written by Lorraine Hansberry. The act was also nominated for the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play alongside Topdog/Underdog but they were not able to get the award.
As of 2024, she also acted in the Brooklyn Academy of Music in the play titled “Our Class” which was written by Tadeusz Slobodzianek. In the play, she is portrayed as a young Jewish mother Dora who was in a 1941 pogrom in the village of Jedwabne one of 10 Polish students. The project has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Performer in an Off-Broadway Play by Outer Critics Circle Award.

Gus Birney’s father is Reed Birney and her mother is Constance Shulman. Both of them were actors and actresses.
She has a younger brother named Ephraim Birney, an actor and writer born on August 7, 1996.
